Current Legislature: 89th 

The 89th Texas Legislative Session ran from January 14 to June 2, 2025.

With a Republican majority, lawmakers passed key measures including increased public school funding through House Bill 2 and the launch of school voucher programs.

 

Other major legislation addressed bail reform, property tax relief, and new restrictions on consumable hemp products—most notably, a ban on recreational THC.
